J Sheekey is legendary in London for good reason. The food, atmosphere and drinks are outstanding.
This establishment is over 100 years old. Being in the heart of West End/Covent Garden area they constantly host famous actors-many of which have headshots hung all over the walls. Keeping in tradition, we came here after seeing Company. We did have an advance reservation, which I recommend since they do get very busy after and pre theatre.
After arriving, we were seated very quickly at an adorable cozy corner table. We started with the butternut squash soup with wild mushroom and shaved parmesan and it was truly spectacular. Our entrees included pan-friend skate wing and fillet of plaice with sides of gem heart salad and brussel sprouts. All of the fish was delectable and bursting with flavor. Truly one of the best seafood dining experiences I have had. The gem heart salad and brussels were the perfect sides. I do recommend adding some to your order because the entrees are a bit on the small side. Overall, my only complaint here would be that the service was a bit lagging. Once the food dropped our waitress pretty much disappeared and no one came back to see if we wanted a second round, which we would have ordered.
Since the food was so amazing i'll give a pass:)
Be sure to check out this legendary spot while in London. -

Very good meal and service. Had the crab bisque to start - tasted good. Then had a couple fish dishes - salmon and cod. Both were well prepared and tasted good. Good atmosphere but missing any wow factor.

This place is over priced and very mediocre. Could have gotten the same meal somewhere else for half the cost. Also they put a $4 "cover charge" when I asked what it was for, my waiter said it was for the bread that they brought out in the beginning. So I followed up by asking why they would bring bread that costs money to the table without asking us if we wanted to pay and he had no answer. To top things off, the food was extremely mediocre. Totally not worth the money. I regret going.

Absolutely the BEST seafood dining experience EVER!! Started with Chilled Chowder and also the tomato salad - scrumptious!!!!!
Had to have the signature Fish Pie - also amazing!
Equivalent to the quality of the food was the exceptional service - from the arrival through departure. A 12 on a scale of 10! -

Delicious filet of sole, very tasty smoked eel appetizer, lovely wines, attentive yet relaxed staff, a wonderful pre-theater meal in London's West End. This place is a cut above New York's Joe Allen with Michelin-Star quality food, historic and classy ambience and a dazzling seafood menu. Book well in advance for pre-theatre.
